01 — Questions
Most women arrive at this page with the same handful of questions, about privacy, about how to prepare, about what they are actually committing to. The answers here are honest, straightforward, and written to help you feel clear before you decide anything.
02 — Your questions
Most of the questions that come up before a session follow a familiar pattern. We have gathered the most common ones here, organised by topic. Take your time with them.
Almost everyone does. Nerves settle quickly once you are in the space and the pace of the session is entirely yours. You will not be rushed or pushed past what feels comfortable.
Most people arrive feeling exactly that way. The session is built around women who have never done this before. Everything is explained as you go and nothing is assumed.
Not at all. Direction is part of what the session includes. You will never be left to work it out alone or asked to do something that doesn't feel natural.
No. Most of our boudoir clients choose to wear lingerie, but what you wear is entirely up to you. Some women bring bodysuits, robes, knitwear, an oversized shirt, or even a favourite dress — whatever makes them feel confident and comfortable.
We don't generally photograph nude images during our boudoir sessions. Fine art nude photography is available as a separate session and is arranged in advance for those specifically looking for that style of portraiture.
Whatever you choose, you'll never be asked to wear or do anything that doesn't feel right for you.
Bring a selection of outfits that make you feel confident and beautiful. This could include lingerie, bodysuits, robes, dresses, heels, jewellery, or any personal items you'd like to incorporate into your photoshoot. If you're unsure what to bring, don't worry. Our Boudoir Magazine includes a comprehensive What to Wear Guide filled with styling advice, outfit ideas, and inspiration to help you prepare for your session. Your photographer will also guide you throughout the experience, so you can simply relax and enjoy every moment.
To help create a relaxed and comfortable environment, we don't allow spectators during the photoshoot itself.
However, you're very welcome to bring a friend or partner to your image viewing appointment immediately after the session if you'd like support when choosing your favourite portraits and artwork.
If you have any concerns about attending on your own, please let us know before your session and we'll be happy to discuss them with you.
All final images are carefully edited for tone and light. Skin retouching is done with a considered, natural hand — the aim is always to look like you on your best day, not someone else entirely.
Photo Nottingham is based in the village of Awsworth, Nottinghamshire, just 5 minutes from Junction 26 of the M1.
Our studio is housed in a beautiful former Victorian school, providing a unique, private, and welcoming setting for your boudoir experience.
There's plenty of free onsite parking, so you can arrive, relax, and enjoy your day without worrying about finding a space.
We understand that sometimes life doesn't go to plan. If you need to reschedule your appointment, please let us know at least 96 hours (4 days) before your booking. We'll be happy to arrange another suitable date, subject to availability.
If something unexpected happens, please get in touch as soon as you can. Whenever possible, we'll do our best to help.
Because we reserve your studio time, photographer, and professional hair and makeup exclusively for you, cancellations or changes made with less than 96 hours (4 days) notice will result in the loss of any booking fee, session fee, voucher, prize, promotional offer, or studio credit associated with your appointment.
If you're running late, please let us know as soon as possible. Clients arriving more than 15 minutes late may have their appointment shortened or, in some cases, cancelled if there isn't enough time to provide the full experience. This decision is at the discretion of the Studio.
If you don't attend your appointment and haven't contacted us beforehand, it will be treated as a no-show. Any booking fee, session fee, voucher, prize, promotional offer, or studio credit associated with the appointment will be forfeited.
Yes. Nothing is shared without your explicit written consent. Your images belong to you and stay completely private unless you choose otherwise.
Absolutely. A simple request at any point ensures your images remain entirely your own. Many clients prefer this and it is always honoured without question.
You'll choose your favourite portraits and products at your viewing appointment immediately after your session. Payment is due at that time.
If you'd prefer to spread the cost, we offer flexible payment options including in-house payment plans and Klarna (subject to approval). We'll be happy to explain the options available to you before you make any decisions.
There is no minimum spend and no obligation to purchase anything you don't absolutely love.
Most of our clients invest around the £1,000 range in their portraits, although collections are available at a range of price points to suit different budgets.
We also offer flexible payment options, including in-house payment plans and Klarna (subject to approval), allowing many clients to spread the cost over time.
When you view your images, we'll guide you through the available options and answer any questions, but there is never any pressure to buy. Our goal is simply to help you choose the portraits that mean the most to you.
The session fee covers your time in the studio, professional direction and styling guidance, and your viewing appointment. Image collections and artwork are chosen separately at your viewing.
We post every order within 3 working days. The voucher arrives as a beautifully presented physical card and brochure. If your order is urgent — for a birthday or anniversary — call Michelle directly on 0115 924 3995 and we'll do what we can.
Your voucher is valid for 6 months from the date of purchase (unless otherwise stated). We want you to enjoy your experience when you're ready, so there's no need to feel rushed. Simply choose a date that works for you within the validity period.
The £250 voucher is studio credit, not a discount off the experience itself. Your photoshoot, professional hair and makeup, and the full studio experience are all included. The £250 is yours to spend on your favourite photographs at your private viewing after the shoot. It will comfortably cover a memento print, or you can use it towards one of our larger collections, albums, or wall art.
You're very welcome to. The £250 voucher is studio credit, not a spending limit. If you fall in love with more images or choose one of our larger collections, handcrafted albums, or wall art, you can simply put the £250 towards your order and pay the difference. There's absolutely no obligation to spend more — it's entirely your choice.
If your voucher was purchased, then yes — it can be transferred or gifted to someone else. Just let us know, and we'll update our records. If your voucher was won as part of a competition, promotion, or giveaway, it is non-transferable and must be used by the named winner.
If you have been thinking about a boudoir shoot and wondering whether this could feel right for you, this is a simple place to start. A discovery call gives you space to ask questions, talk things through, and get a feel for it without pressure.
Occasional notes on the experience, real stories from the studio, and quiet inspiration sent to your inbox. Never frequent enough to feel like noise.
Thank you. We will be in touch, gently.
